CAS positive outlook for US medical liability insurance sector

Decreases in frequency of claims among healthcare practitioners in the US, the stabilisation of claim severity trends, shifts in the medical profession, the impact of risk management training and advancements in patient safety are all contributors to a positive outlook for the medical liability insurance sector, according to panelists at the recent Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) 2012 Seminar on Reinsurance.
