HM Treasury for a long time had a standard answer for law enforcement when it appeared cap in hand for more money to fund the fight against organised crime, Mick Creedon, Chief Constable of Derbyshire told the Institute of Money Laundering Prevention Officers ( www.imlpo.com) 9th Annual Conference in Manchester last week (14 May): “If you can’t tell us the size of the problem, we can’t talk about the investment needed to make it go away.” The picture is beginning to change, even emerge, as the 43 police forces in England and Wales start to map organised crime consistently against a common matrix.
