Cargo liquefaction - still a problem; still taking lives
Daniel Crockford, of Greenwoods Solicitors, urges the shipping industry to follow the rules of carrying dangerous cargo
On 25 December 2011 the shipping industry was again reminded of the dangers of cargo liquefaction following the tragic loss
of the Vinalines Queen and all but one of her crew.
Vinalines Queen
was carrying nickel ore from Indonesia to China and joins the list of vessels, including the
Jian Fu Star
, the
Nasco Diamond
, the
Hong Wei
, the
Asian Forest
and the
Black Rose
, sunk by this phenomenon in the last few years.
