SOUTH CAROLINA INSURANCE COMMISSIONER BLACK QUITS
South Carolina Director of Insurance David Black has resigned, less than a year into his term of office. Mr Black left office on December 28. The office of state Governor Nikki Haley praised Mr Black for is efforts, but gave no reason for his departure. General Counsel Gwen McGriff will be interim director while a replacement is sought. Several unsubstantiated possible causes for Mr Black's abrupt departure were put forward by the local press, including a rumour that he was unhappy with the direction that South Carolina was taking with health-insurance exchanges.
