Apra says reinsurance arrangements must be improved across industry

Australian insurers are still overly reliant on catastrophe models when determining their reinsurance arrangements, failing adequately to take into account the potential impact of multiple disasters on their balance sheets and the subsequent soaring cost of reinsurance, the country’s regulator has warned.
