Public policy prevents sale of claim

Simpson v Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital NHS Trust [2011] EWCA Civ 1149, 12 October 2011

The appeal raised two important questions relating to the assignment of choses in action. Of general significance was whether it was possible to assign a cause of action in tort for damages for personal injury. If yes, what were the circumstances in which such an assignment would be held void for public policy reasons?
