S v AG (Financial Remedy: Lottery Prize) [2011] EWHC 2637 (Fam), 14 October 2011

The parties married in 1984. The marriage was unhappy from at least the mid-1990s. The wife was playing the lottery with a friend, without her husband’s knowledge, and bought the tickets from her own earned income. They won £1m on 31 December 1999 resulting in a payment of £500,000 to the wife who used the majority of the money to purchase and renovate a property which became the family home.
