Monsoon rains: Response plan seeks $356.7m to support flood affected families

PAKISTAN: More than 5.4 million people have been affected in the areas of Pakistan hit by flooding as a result of this year’s monsoon rains. Pakistan’s government agencies are leading the relief and recovery activities in flood-affected areas. Humanitarian groups have been asked to assist to cover areas that will be beyond the government’s capabilities. UN agencies, non-governmental organisations and the International Organisation for Migration are seeking $356.7m to support flood-affected families for the next six months. It is expected the population will continue to be uprooted from their homes to seek refuge in the short term as more areas are affected.
