Monsoon rains: Response plan seeks $356.7m to support flood affected families
PAKISTAN: More than 5.4 million people have been affected in the areas of Pakistan hit by flooding as a result of this year’s
monsoon rains. Pakistan’s government agencies are leading the relief and recovery activities in flood-affected areas. Humanitarian
groups have been asked to assist to cover areas that will be beyond the government’s capabilities. UN agencies, non-governmental
organisations and the International Organisation for Migration are seeking $356.7m to support flood-affected families for
the next six months. It is expected the population will continue to be uprooted from their homes to seek refuge in the short
term as more areas are affected.
