Swiss Re applies for registration in Brazil

REINSURER Swiss Re has submitted an application to Susep, the Brazilian insurance supervisor, applying for a local reinsurance registration. Swiss Re said it sees this move as “the next step in its continued dedication to its clients and the Brazilian insurance market”. The reinsurer opened an office in São Paulo (pictured) in 1996. Swiss Re region head of Brazil, Rolf Steiner, said in Brazil “the economic expansion, coupled with large infrastructure projects to support this growth, the World Cup and Olympics have increased the need for risk-management support”.
