Egypt: natural gas exports to Israel and Jordan were suspended for the second time this year after saboteurs blew up a monitoring room in the pipeline network, the Egyptian oil ministry said. No injuries were immediately reported. The explosion took place in a suburb of the Egyptian town of El Arish, the capital of North Sinai province. A team from the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company, which operates the pipeline, travelled from Cairo to El Arish to assess the damage. Ampal-American Israel Corporation, which owns 12.5% of Eastern Mediterranean Gas, an Israeli company that imports Egyptian gas, confirmed supplies to Israel had been stopped. Investigators were assessing the damage and the authorities were seeking to identify those behind the “act of sabotage,” the oil ministry said.
