WISCONSIN INSURER PAYS $11M ON TORNADO CLAIMS

Wisconsin-based insurer American Family Insurance of Madison (AFI) has paid out $11m in damages as a result of the tornadoes that hit central Wisconsin on August 18. The insurer said that it anticipated total claims of between $12m and $13m as a result of the storms. AFI spokeswoman Kelly Kick said that 27 homes had been destroyed and 40 others had sustained significant damage of the storm, which mainly affected the south-eastern part of Madison. AFI is the largest provider of homeowners’ cover in Wisconsin.
