RMS PUTS INSURED TSUNAMI LOSSES AT LESS THAN $4BN

California-based catastrophe modelling group Risk Management Solutions has estimated that insured losses as a result of the December 26 tsunamis will be less than $4bn. Total insured property damage was put at between $2.5bn and $3bn, while life and health claims — mainly from overseas visitors — are estimated at less than $1bn. Travel insurance claims were likely to be in the region of $100m.
