£50,000 settlement for lost leg

An 18-year-old boy injured when he was run over by a van has received £50,000 in compensation. He was driving his scooter and as he was pulling out of a car park he was run over by the defendant’s van. He was forced to have his lower leg amputated. After a claim had been made to the defendant, it became clear the evidence surrounding the road traffic accident was poor, meaning the experts could not categorically confirm whether the defendant had been negligent. Liability for the accident was denied by the defendant. Proceedings were started and with the trial due to take place in three weeks, an offer was made by the defendant which was accepted.
