£200,000 in compensation for crushed leg
A man whose leg was crushed when a crane toppled over has won £200,000 in compensation. He worked as the operator of a crane.
The steering was faulty, so a mechanic had been called in to repair it. The crane operator was instructed to raise the crane
up on to its legs, but in doing so, the crane toppled over and crushed his right leg. He made a claim against his company
for not giving him correct instructions. The company’s argument was he had not followed the instructions closely enough. Eventually,
liability was accepted 65/35 in the claimant’s favour.
