Divorce settlements and inherited property

For most families, divorce will be a major financial, as well as personal disaster. The family’s financial resources will have been barely sufficient to support both spouses, and their children when living together. Having to allocate those resources between separate families will result in sacrifices having to be made. The problem facing the courts is all too often the legal equivalent of getting a quart out of a pint pot, and even the most ingenious jurists have found that it cannot be done. If anything, the expense of litigation merely makes things worse.
