ONLY $1.6M IN CLAIMS SO FAR FOR THAI FLOOD VICTIMS

Only THB50m ($1.6m) in claims have been submitted so far in Thailand as a result of the worst floods to hit the country in decades, according to a report from the Office of Insurance Commission. The claims were mostly for damaged vehicles. Over three million people have been affected, with roads and railways being cut off in the northern province of Lopburi. The Thai government has released THB283m in aid. Bangkok has avoided the worst of the floods, which have killed nearly 60 people. The level of claims is likely to rise considerably, the report stated.
