NINE-MONTH INCOME FALLS 13% AT AON
Global broker Aon Corp has posted a 13% decline in nine-month net income to $475m, as operating income rose 3% to $804m and
results from discontinued operations swung to a $26m loss from a year-earlier gain of $55m. Commissions and fees for the period
rose 2% to $5.56bn. For Q3, net income rose 20% to $144m on flat commissions and fees of $1.79bn. Operating income of 61¢
a share was 5¢ a share below analysts' forecast. President and chief executive Greg Case said that Q3 results "reflect solid
operational performance against a challenging global economy", noting that organic revenue growth was 4%. Results for the
quarter also reflected a drop in Aon's expenses related to a 2007 restructuring to $95m from the year-earlier $357m.
