UN WORLD FOOD PROGRAMME DONATES WEATHER STATIONS

The UN World Food Programme has donated 20 automated weather stations to Ethiopia's National Meteorological Agency, reports Artemis. The stations will permit the real-time gathering of data to enable weather risk management at the micro-insurance level. The data will be sent from agricultural areas every 15 minutes via the Ethiopian mobile phone network to the server in Addis Ababa.
