£50,000 compensation for mid-diagnosis

Compensation of £50,000 has been paid to a woman who was mis-diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome (‘IBS’) when she in fact was suffering from celiac disease. She had suffered since childhood with abdominal pain and was given to understand that she had IBS. She underwent tests including a colonoscopy, a gastroscopy and a biopsy.
