£2.3mn in compensation for spinal injuries

A man who suffered spinal injuries in a road traffic accident has been awarded £2.3mn in compensation. He was a backseat passenger in a car that was hit by another car, killing the other occupants of the car and leaving him a paraplegic. As well as the lump sum payment, he will receive further payments on an annual basis. It was reported that his lawyer had argued that if he had received only a lump sum, there was a risk the money would have run out at some stage, particularly in the context of the current economic problems.
