Settlement of £110,000 for cyclist

A police officer who was knocked from his bike when cycling home from work, and as a result of his stay in hospital developed MRSA, has received a settlement of £110,000. He sustained a fractured knee cap on one side and ligament damage to the other knee. Following surgery he was able to return to work and worked up until normal retirement. However he was not able to stay beyond 30 years of service, as he had planned to do, due to the ongoing symptoms caused by the accident and the surgery.
