Researchers welcome National Centre for Asbestos-related Diseases

Researchers and clinicians working to combat asbestos-related diseases have welcomed the Government’s announcement that the insurance industry will contribute £3m towards the establishment of a new National Centre for Asbestos-related Diseases (NCARD). Over the coming weeks, medics will be seeking to clarify a timescale for the funds to be provided and obtain a commitment from the Department of Health to underwrite or match fund the new national centre.
