Indiana-based insurance holding company Conseco... has sold the General Motors Building in New York to Macklowe Properties for $1.4bn. Conseco said that the deal would add around $380m to the capital and surplus of its operating companies, but would not result in any gain to its financial statements owing the “fresh start” accounting following its recent emergence from bankruptcy proceedings.
