Mesothelioma settlement of more than £110,000
A man has received more than £110,000 in compensation after developing mesothelioma. He worked at a company cutting sheets
of an ‘asbestos-replacement’ product which was introduced as an alternative to using asbestos, and was believed it to be harmless.
However, the product was up to 50 percent asbestos. He would cut sheets of the substance at the request of the machinists,
and his workspace would be littered with off-cuts of the material. He worked in a small, confined room, using a handheld hacksaw,
producing a significant amount of dust, and he was not provided with any safety mask.
