Damages for police assault

A man has received an out of court settlement for £10,000 from the police. After a football match, he and a friend walked past a police van. Without warning, a police dog leapt forward and bit his forearm. He was then kicked and punched by a police officer before being arrested. He was also struck with a police baton and charged with a public order offence. His lawyer made a successful claim against the police force complaining of police misconduct in the form of false imprisonment, assault and prosecution.
