Sompo Japan... has completed its acquisition of a 54.7% stake in Brazil-based composite insurer Maritima Seguros for ¥15.5bn ($162.7m), via Sompo’s Latin American operation Yasuda Seguros. The purchase gives Sompo 50% of Maritima’s outstanding common shares (IIN 24, May 21 2009).
