Foreign investors poised to raise stakes in local firms

The newly elected government is widely expected to lift the limit on foreign direct nvestment in the Indian insurance sector to 49%

Foreign investors are expected to plough an estimated US$5bn in the Indian insurance industry once the law is amended – expected in the next few months – to allow foreign investors to hold higher stakes in insurance joint ventures established in the country.
