RMS and Aon Benfield in new long term relationship

Reinsurance broker Aon Benfield has selected RMS as its main provider of risk modelling advice and strategies. A particular focus of the new relationship will be catastrophe risk analytics and interpretation of results. Bryon Ehrhart, chief executive of Aon Benfield Analytics, said the two companies will investigate additional ways in which applications of industry exposure and loss data could be used in order to enable RMS to further improve its ability to build and calibrate its models. He said that Aon Benfield and RMS were committed to exploring other areas of joint interest as well, including increasing the efficiency and transparency of catastrophe-linked capital markets transactions. Over the years, risk modelling has become a central component of Aon Benfield’s service offering to its clients. However, both parties will retain their existing relationships with other brokers and risks modellers respectively. Commenting on this aspect of the relationship, Mr Ehrhart said that Aon Benfield remained ‘a multi-model shop’, and would continue to provide its clients with multiple views of risk. Similarly, RMS remained committed to all of its relationships with brokers and other intermediaries.
