Insurers oppose plan to remove exemptions from EU competition law

Under the Commission’s proposal, only two of the existing four Block Exemption Regulations will be renewed

The European Union’s competition commissioner, Neelie Kroes, who has been reviewing the insurance sector’s Block Exemption Regulations (BER), wants to drop standard policy conditions and standards for security devices from the exemptions.
