Zurich Global Energy appointment

Zurich Financial Services has appointed Rick Gibbons as president of Zurich Global Energy, the division of the Swiss insurance group which provides energy risk solutions, risk engineering services and claims support tailored to oil and gas, petrochemical, natural resources, mining and power generation companies. Mr Gibbons was previously president for Global Energy Property at AIG. In a statement, Mario Vitale, chief executive of Zurich’s Global Corporate business, said that Mr Gibbons brought more than 30 years of experience in the energy industry and in underwriting, engineering, and relationship management. Mr Gibbons began his career in the insurance industry in 1978 at Factory Mutual and underwriting and management at Protection Mutual. In 1984, Mr Gibbons joined Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance where he became chief operating officer for HSB’s special risks division.
