XL CAPITAL EYES INTERNATIONAL EXPANSION POSSIBILITIES

Bermuda’s XL Capital has announced plans to create a new taskforce to investigate ways of expanding the group’s international strategic opportunities. The initiative is to be headed by Willi Suter, former president and chief executive of XL Winterthur International, XL Capital’s large-account risk management insurance operation. He will combine the role with the chairmanship of XL Winterthur International Insurance Switzerland. XL Capital chief executive Brian O’Hara noted that “with improving market conditions, we believe there are further opportunities to grow XL’s international business across all segments”. Following Mr Suter’s appointment, Clive Tobin has been named president and chief executive of XL Winterthur International, with Hans Gmünder appointed deputy chief executive.
