France and Spain count cost of Windstorm Klaus

Loss estimates for the January storm are as high as €2.5bn in France while Spain’s cat scheme could reduce insurers’ bills

Windstorm Klaus, which hit southern France and northern Spain on January 24, 2009 killed an estimated 15 persons and, according to Munich Re, caused insured losses of €2bn (US$2.59bn).
