Salmon farm claims in Chile

Intensive farming of salmon has been blamed for the presence of the ISA virus, which has decimated many farms’ stocks

Environmental groups in Chile have accused the salmon farming industry of deliberately releasing diseased fish into open waters to claim on insurance policies. According to the environmentalists, the salmon companies have freed infected fish from their pens to collect insurance payments, arguing that even with a 40% deductible, the option is preferable to culling the whole stock.
