CHINA’S TAIKANG LIFE AIMS FOR 2009 LISTING
China-based Taikang Life, the fourth-largest life assurer on the Chinese mainland, plans to take a public listing some time
this year, according to Qiu Xichuan, secretary of the board. He said that the assurer had not yet decided where to list. meanwhile,
the company reported that it expected to record a post-tax profit of CNY1.7bn ($249m) for 2008, on premium income up 69% to
CNY57.7bn. Previously, Taikang Life president Chen Dongsheng noted that a life assurer was qualified to list when its annual
profit exceeded CNY800m. Taikang Life had also been profitable for five consecutive years.
