BRIT LAUNCHES US OPERATION

UK-based insurer Brit has launched a US service operation based in Chicago, Illinois. Brit said that the new unit would “act as a conduit to service business locally on behalf of Lloyd’s Syndicate 2987”, which is managed by Brit Syndicates Ltd. Brit said that the new business would be headed by Nicholas Davies, who joins from Western Re. He had previously been with Brit Insurance. Andrew Murnieks, currently part of Brit Insurance Global Markets, will join Mr Davies in Chicago. Brit conceived the operation in cooperation with broker AJ Gallagher (UK). Brit launched a claims and data management hub in Atlanta in 2008. Brit Global Markets CEO Matthew Wilson said that the move “further demonstrates our desire to work with our London brokers to lower the market’s cost base without the need to disintermediate, and that indeed is a unique combination”.
