GIC TO OPEN FIRST OVERSEAS OFFICE IN LONDON AFTER RELAUNCH

India's state-run reinsurer General Insurance Corp (GIC), which is soon to be relaunched as Indian Re, is to open its first overseas representative office in London under its new name, according to chairman Dipankar Sengupta. No date was put to the new office opening, but GIC is said to be targeting between $300m and $400m in premiums in the next two years, and an overseas presence is seen as a crucial first step towards achieving that.
