Asset recovery call by European Commission

A European Commission policy paper (Communication) has called for swift action by European Union (EU) member states to ensure that effective ‘asset recovery offices’ are operating in all 27 member states, tracing criminal assets and aiding their seizure and proper management. The report calls for a smoother cross border exchange of information about such assets within the EU, with police agency Europol and judicial network Eurojust easing contacts between recovery offices. It also suggests establishing a common EU training programme for financial investigators.
