PPI competition review limits sales

The Competition Commission’s review of payment protection insurance (PPI) has concluded with the controversial proposal to ban the sale of single-premium PPI policies, which it argues prevent customers from switching providers and make it difficult for consumers to compare prices. It has also proposed to ban providers selling credit to a customer from approaching them about buying PPI for the first 14 days of the credit contract.
