SPANISH INSURERS SAY ABANDONED CARS NOT COVERED

Spain’s insurance association Unespa has said that owners who abandoned their vehicles as a result of traffic jams caused by the recent tow-truck drivers’ strike would not necessarily be covered against theft if their vehicles were broken into, unless they had comprehensive cover. Last week the insurance regulator said that insurers would not make things difficult for victims of car break-ins, but Unespa said that the courts would have to decide who was liable for the cost.
