EX-AEGON EXECUTIVE SENTENCED TO FOUR YEARS FOR FRAUD
Former Aegon finance controller Paul Vacher has been sentenced to four years in prison for embezzlement and fraud by a three-judge panel in the Netherlands. According to the panel, Vacher “not only cost his employer large amounts of money, but also damaged the trust the people put in this and other insurance companies”. He was accused of embezzling around 18m euro over six years up until his arrest in 2002. Dutch media reported that Vacher, working with an accomplice outside the company, billed Aegon for work that never took place and invested the proceeds in art and property.
