The claimant’s contract was transferred under the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 1981 to
the defendants. Her previous employment had no enhanced severance pay scheme, but her new employer did. When she was made
redundant a year later, she claimed to be entitled to enhanced severance pay.
