New Practice Rules

Although, the new Solicitors’ Practice Rules were approved by the Council of the Law Society in September 2004, and an amendment to the Client Care Code relating to CFAs was fast-tracked to come into force on 1 November 2005, the remainder of the Rules appeared to have been shunted into the sidings. It was reported to the Council of the Law Society that the president, the chairman of the Regulation Board, and the chairman of the Consumer Complaints Board have all personally expressed to the Lord Chancellor their ‘grave concerns’ about the continuing delay in Governmental approval of the new Rules.
