Litigation Letter

Adjournment fees

The civil courts have been reminded that they should charge a fee on applications to adjourn generally with permission to restore. If the application is by consent, the fee is £25 under Fee 2.5 of the County Court Fees Order 2002; if the application is on notice, the fee is £50 under Fee 2.4. A fee is still payable even if the request is by letter. However, no fee is payable on an application for an adjourned hearing to be restored.
