Use of Lawtel Summaries Intolerable

Hamblin v Field (CA TLR 26 April)

Excessive citation of authorities is to be deplored and in particular, the practice of referring courts to summaries of cases which did not use the language used by the judge and where it was unclear whether the judgment had been summarised by a professional lawyer should not be tolerated. The use of summaries such as in the form provided by Lawtel was not a satisfactory way to put judicial decisions before the court.
