Litigation Letter
The Access to Justice Act 1999 (Destination of Appeals) Order 2000
Sl No 1071 (L.10) Came into force: 2 May
The primary purpose of this Order is to provide that from 2 May appeals from the county courts, other than in family proceedings,
will in most cases, lie to the High Court rather than to the Court of Appeal. The exceptions are that appeals shall lie to
the Court of Appeal (i) in claims allocated to the multi-track; (ii) in the specialist proceedings covered by CPR 49(2); and
(iii) against decisions which were themselves made on appeal (other than from the decision of an authorised costs officer).
