Resolving Circumcision Dispute

In RE J (A Minor) (Prohibited Steps Order: Circumcision) (CA TLR 22 December)

Circumcision of a child, not taking place within days of birth, is an important and irreversible decision that should be referred to the court in the event of dispute. Section 2(7) of the Children Act 1989 did not enable one parent to arrange for a child to be circumcised without the consent of the other parent who also had parental responsibility.
