Guideline Hourly Charging Rates for Solicitors

The second edition of The Supreme Court Costs Office Guide to the Summary Assessment of Costs gives the figures collated in October 1999 after consultation between designated civil judges, district judges and local law societies. It is emphasised that the rates are broad approximations only and that designated civil judges after consultation may supply more exact guidelines for a particular area. In his foreword the Vice-Chancel lor says it has not yet been possible to produce guidance as to the fees to be allowed for counsel. A great deal of work is being done in this area and he hopes that it will soon be possible to publish guideline fees for counsel. Here are the rates for solicitors:
