GENERAL RE AND COLOGNE RE TO OPERATE AS GENERALCOLOGNE RE

Berkshire Hathaway’s Connecticut-based General Re Corp subsidiary has launched a new brand strategy and management structure for its direct reinsurance operations, under which General Reinsurance and Cologne Re will operate under the trade name GeneralCologne Re, effective from today. “The essence of our direct reinsurance business model is our service to our clients and our excellence in underwriting and long-term relationships”, said General Re Corp chairman and chief executive Ronald Ferguson. “In order to do all of this effectively, we need to operate seamlessly as one organisation”. The group is to operate its direct treaty p/c reinsurance business on a regional basis. The structure of life/health operations will not change.
