Collision action in North Sea - Apportionment of fault
Shortly before 0500 on 30 May 1987 the motor vessels
Skyron
and
Hel
collided in the North Sea. The
Skyron
was a single screw Liberian VLCC of 67,239.47 tons gross, about 270.5 metres long and 44 metres in beam. She was powered by
an engine of 27,300 horse power. She was in the course of a voyage from Gabinda to Rotterdam laden with a full cargo of crude
oil. Her draft was 55 feet 7 inches forward and aft.
