Whether shipowners entitled to arrest cargo for non payment of freight

The vessel Ocean Jade was time-chartered under a charterparty dated 17 May 1990 for a time-chartered trip. On 31 May 1990 the time-charterers issued a bill of lading in respect of certain cargo, the receivers of which were the defendants. Delivery was to be at Um Qaser/Basrah. The bill of lading stated that freight was prepaid.
